About The Position

This position is responsible for inspecting eggs to ascertain quality and fitness for incubation, processing chicks, and cleaning/sanitizing hatchery and equipment by performing all essential duties. Other duties may be assigned. The jobsite is a biosecure environment which requires showering, changing clothing and footwear before entering the facility. Appropriate clothing and footwear are provided by the Company. No jewelry may be worn on the jobsite except for medical ID jewelry and body piercings covered by appropriate clothing. Must be willing to sign an agreement to avoid any avian species (chickens, ducks, birds, etc.). Must be willing to sign and abide by the Company Biosecurity and Company Animal Welfare Guidelines.

Requirements

  • Must have at least 12 months of consecutive work history with one employer and no additional job gaps in employment greater than 6 months in the past 36 months. If applicant has been laid off or providing child or elder care, the employment gap will be increased to 18 months.
  • Previous work history will not apply to applicants who have been full time students consecutively for the last 36 months.
  • Rehire criteria is a minimum waiting period of 180 days.
  • Rehire Rule of no more than 3 times worked at Cobb/Tyson Foods.
  • Must reside in the United States to be considered for an interview.

Responsibilities

  • Prepares eggs for incubation by grading eggs while traying to observe for defects such as shell color, texture, cracks, etc., transferring pedigree eggs without mixing hen numbers, placing substandard eggs (broken, dirty, etc.) in container for disposal, packing eggs in cases for international orders, processing day old chicks by counting, vaccinating, wing banding, delivering chicks within the complex, and entering data using a touch screen tablet (60%)
  • Maintains a sanitary environment by operating tray washer, operating high pressure sprayer and/or water hose to clean and sanitize setters, hatchers, egg rooms, chick processing area, and hatchery vehicles, performing the collection of weekly hatchery monitoring samples including air plates and swabs, and fumigating specified areas of facility as required (30%)
  • Holds eggs before a shielded light to determine fertility, assists egg drivers with sorting pedigree eggs by line/hen and placing hatching eggs in buggies, performs other duties of egg driver and/or hatchery monitor to cover absences, maintain vehicle by checking fluid levels, filters, tire pressure, and clean/disinfect to remove debris, and maintains a clean and organized work/break area. (10%)
