Starting Pay: $18.00 per hour plus additional shift differential for evenings, nights and weekends. This position generally averages 40 hours per week. Work schedule is subject to change based upon production needs. Inspect and process eggs for incubation, inspect and process chicks, maintain hatchery facility. The jobsite is a biosecure environment which requires showering, changing clothing and footwear before entering the facility. Appropriate clothing and footwear is provided by the Company. No jewelry may be worn on the jobsite except for medical ID jewelry and body piercings coverd by appropriate clothing. Must be willing to sign an agreement to avoid any avian species (chickens, ducks, birds, etc.). Must be willing to sign and abide by the Company Biosecurity and Company Animal Welfare Guidelines.

Requirements

  • Must have at least 12 months of consecutive work history with one employer and no additional job gaps in employment greater than 6 months in the past 36 months.
  • If applicant has been laid off or providing child or elder care, the employment gap will be increased to 18 months.
  • Previous work history will not apply to applicants who have been full time students consecutively for the last 36 months.
  • Rehire criteria is a minimum waiting period of 180 days.
  • Rehire Rule of no more than 3 times worked at Cobb/Tyson Foods.
  • Applicants must reside in the United States to be considered for an interview.

Nice To Haves

  • Applicants with previous agricultural or production experience will be considered preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Grading eggs via light source for traying and transfer of eggs from pedigree flocks (10%)
  • Setting of eggs which consists of: observes shell color and texture, internal characteristics such as streaks, shadings, discolorations, size and position of yolk, and size of air cell; places hatching eggs in buggies; place broken, dirty or other substandard eggs in container (15%)
  • Process and vaccinate day old chicks (25%)
  • Record data entry of egg and chick information onto touch screen tablet (10%)
  • Performs the following sanitation activities: remove eggshells and culled chicks; clean and sanitize setters, hatchers, egg rooms, and chick processing areas (20%)
  • Sort pedigree eggs by line and hen (5%)
  • Clean hatchery office, break room and restrooms; sanitize vehicles (5%)
  • Assist with egg orders (5%)
  • Properly euthanize weak/ill birds in accordance with company policy (5%)
