About The Position

Supervises and coordinates the activities of workers who perform various duties in a hatchery processing environment. This includes mixing vaccines, loading robots, preparing, maintaining, and sanitizing equipment, processing chicks, and cleaning/sanitizing hatchery equipment. The role also involves monitoring equipment for repairs and potentially other assigned duties. The position requires adherence to strict biosecurity, animal welfare, and safety procedures, including showering and changing clothes before entering the facility. The job involves significant physical activity and working in various environmental conditions.

Requirements

  • At least six consecutive months of work experience with the same employer and no additional gaps in employment greater than six months with the last 36 months. If applicant was laid-off, providing eldercare or childcare, the six month gap will be increased to 18 months.
  • Previous work history criteria will not apply to applicants who have been full time students consecutively for the last 36 months.
  • Must reside in the United States to be considered for an interview.
  • Must currently have and consistently maintain 4 attendance points or less.
  • Must be willing to sign an agreement to avoid any avian species (chickens, ducks, birds, etc.).
  • Must be willing to sign and abide by the Company Biosecurity and Company Animal Welfare Guidelines.
  • Must be willing and able to perform the physical requirements of the job with or without reasonable accommodation.
  • Must use safe lifting techniques.
  • Must regularly lift and stack chick boxes (wheeled dolly) weighing up to 12 pounds.
  • Will occasionally be required to push or pull stacks of boxes up to 125 pounds.
  • Regularly required to stand and walk majority of shift (concrete floor).
  • Must be able to sit.
  • Must be able to use hands to handle or feel objects and controls.
  • Must be able to reach with hands and arms.
  • Must be able to balance.
  • Must be able to perform climbing/ladder usage.
  • Must be able to talk or hear.
  • Must be able to drive a vehicle within the farm complex.
  • Specific vision abilities required: close vision; distance vision; color vision; peripheral vision; depth perception; and the ability to adjust focus.
  • Expected to follow all applicable safety policies and procedures, including Hazard Communication, Respiratory Protection, LOTO and Personal Protective Equipment.
  • Expected to identify, address and mitigate safety related risks.

  • Previous agricultural or production experience will be considered preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Supervises employees on the processing crew and carries out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the organizations policies.
  • Planning, assigning and directing work.
  • Making sure each customer is getting the correct amount of chicks and correct services.
  • Entering daily information into the computer.
  • Addresses complaint and resolves small problems.
  • Packs eggs when needed.
  • Assisting in training new team members.
  • Ensuring all team members are following proper biosecurity, animal welfare and safety procedures.
  • Maintaining a clean and organized work area.
  • Mixes vaccines, loads vaccine in robots, prepares, maintains and sanitizes equipment, process chicks, and clean/sanitizes and monitor for repair of hatchery equipment.
