About The Position

Hatchery maintenance mechanics are responsible for keeping all hatchery equipment running and the preventative maintenance done on all equipment. Equipment list is as follows: Separator Tray Washer Macerator Vacuum system Hatchers Setters A/C units Heaters Chick counters Evaporative Coolers Intelliject machines Unstop Drains Replace light fixtures Recam setters Generators Chiller Replace wheels on farm racks and hatcher dollies Fix anything that needs repair

Requirements

  • Must be dependable
  • Must be able to bend, squat and lift approximately 50 lbs
  • Must be able to work in temperature up to 100 degrees in setters
  • Must be able to climb a ladder at times carrying about 15 lbs
  • Must have electrical knowledge
  • Must be able to climb a ladder

Nice To Haves

  • Overhead lifting of about 20 lbs when working in setters
  • Overhead fans in the setters circulating the air

Responsibilities

  • Keeping all hatchery equipment running
  • Preventative maintenance on all equipment
  • Unstop drains
  • Replace light fixtures
  • Replace wheels on farm racks and hatcher dollies
  • Fix anything that needs repair
  • Climb stairs onto the roof once every month to clean filters and wash out A/C units and make repairs as needed
  • Work with electricity such as wiring, motors, light fixtures, running conduit, replacing motors and working around electronic control boards
