About The Position

Hatchery maintenance mechanics are responsible for keeping all hatchery equipment running and performing preventative maintenance on all equipment. This role requires dependability and the ability to perform physical tasks in various environmental conditions.

Requirements

  • Must be dependable.
  • Must be able to bend, squat and lift approximately 50 lbs.
  • Must be able to work in temperature up to 100 degrees in setters.
  • Must be able to climb a ladder at times carrying about 15 lbs.
  • Must have electrical knowledge and able to work with electricity such as wiring, motors, light fixtures, running conduit, replacing motors and working around electronic control boards.
  • Must be able to climb a ladder.

Nice To Haves

  • Overhead lifting of about 20 lbs when working in setters.
  • Climbing a ladder carrying about 15 lbs (?) (weight of a 1/15 HP motor with blower wheel attached).

Responsibilities

  • Keep all hatchery equipment running.
  • Perform preventative maintenance on all equipment.
  • Replace light fixtures.
  • Unstop drains.
  • Replace wheels on farm racks and hatcher dollies.
  • Fix anything that needs repair.
  • Climb stairs onto the roof once every month to clean filters and wash out A/C units and make repairs as needed.
