About The Position

Hatchery Laborers are responsible for various tasks within the hatchery, including washing floats, transporting and setting eggs, sanitizing equipment, and loading chicks. This role involves continuous standing, walking, bending, and reaching, with some tasks requiring specific dexterity like pinch grip and extension/flexion of the back and shoulders. The working conditions can be wet and humid during sanitation, and hot (99 degrees Fahrenheit) and dusty at times, particularly when chicks are in production. On-the-job training is provided for 1-2 weeks.

Requirements

Continuous standing, walking, bending, and reaching.
Dexterity: Some jobs require pinch grip, back extension/flexion, and/or shoulder extension/flexion.
Hearing protection is required in posted areas.
Slip-resistant shoes are required in all areas.
Steel toe shoes are required during set and transfer.
Must pass drug, alcohol, and background checks.
Must provide verification of employment eligibility.

Cotton gloves are optional to be used as needed by team member.

Responsibilities

Wash floats (buggy) by removing hatcher trays, overturning the float to remove debris, and rinsing with a high-pressure hose.
Transport hatcher trays.
Sanitize separator using a foaming system with sodium hypochlorite and rinsing with a high-pressure hose.
Sanitize hatcher by removing fans, sweeping debris, foaming with sodium hypochlorite, and rinsing with a high-pressure hose.
Set eggs by lifting 10-pound egg trays and placing them into stacked buggies from floor level to shoulder level.
Transfer eggs by pushing buggies to the vaccination table, placing individual trays on the table, and then returning them to the buggy before rolling to the hatcher.
Load chicks onto the conveyor by removing chick trays from the buggy and placing the tray onto the conveyor.
