Hatchery Laborers perform hatchery duties that include washing flats; transporting hatcher trays and egg buggies; sanitizing equipment; setting and transferring eggs; and washing and sanitizing set and hatch halls. Equipment is cleaned using a foaming system and rinsed with a high-pressure hose. Setting eggs involves lifting 30-pound trays from floor level to above head level and placing them into 100-degree incubators. During transfers, workers push egg-loaded buggies to the vaccination table, move individual trays onto and off the table, and roll the buggy to the hatcher. The Lead Person mixes vaccine according to management guidelines, learns every listed position, and ensures transfer cracks remain within an acceptable range. On-the-job training lasts 1–2 weeks. Work conditions include wet and humid sanitation processes, approximately two hours per shift in 99-degree incubators, and dusty conditions when chicks are in production. Embrex positions include Egg Setter, Sanitation Laborer, Egg Puller, Loader-Machine, Utility, and Vaccine Technician.
