About The Position

Our manufacturing members are the heart of our organization. Members of our manufacturing team, which includes machine operators, packaging, shipping and more, take pride in ensuring we produce only the highest-quality, most consistent products for our customers and consumers. If you’re passionate about making a difference, we want you to help make our products, processes, communities and each other better. Harvest is the department at Johnsonville where Members disassemble the euthanized sows (female pigs), essentially removing from the body anything that won’t go into our brats, breakfast sausage and ground pork products. The Harvest Members have the task of taking a mostly untouched carcass and removing the hide, head, internal organs, and feet so that the De-Boning Department can then remove all the meat from the bones. There are a variety of different positions on the Harvest Floor, but all of them require some form of handling the sow’s body or body parts.

Must be at least 18 years old
Ability to pass a pre-employment, post-offer drug screen, physical and background check.

Responsibilities

Cutting and preparing sow carcasses for further sausage processing
Removing hide and internal organs, trimming, and inspecting the sow’s carcass
Cleaning, sharpening, and maintaining knives, tools and equipment
Learn and perform several job functions in department at line speed
Adhere to all GMP (Good Manufacturing Practice) and Safety policies
Attend all plant meetings and complete monthly safety observations and trainings
Complete all other duties as assigned
