About The Position

The Harvest Supervisor is responsible for monitoring the slaughter area, ensuring product quality, and administering corrective procedures. This role involves conducting daily safety walks, enforcing safety regulations and food safety policies in collaboration with Quality Assurance, and managing employee clock-in procedures. The supervisor will also address attendance issues, coordinate personnel, and handle disciplinary actions. Additionally, the Harvest Supervisor will attend morning meetings, contribute to policy development, manage daily production across various departments (kill floor, offal, variety by products, feet), measure and report yields and downtime, oversee associate discipline and turnover, communicate with USDA inspectors, and implement departmental goals. All other duties as assigned by the Manager are also part of this role.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma or equivalent.
  • 3 years supervisory experience on all areas of the kill floor, offal, and variety products.
  • Expertise in the kill floor, offal, variety by products, and feet areas as well as government statutes, laws and regulations and company policies, procedures and guidelines.
  • Proven written and verbal communication skills (English), problem solving, and leadership qualities.
  • Must be able to work in conditions of extreme heat.
  • Must be able to work six days a week including Saturday.
  • General computer skills.
  • Knowledge of meat processing and subsequent job specifications.

Responsibilities

  • Monitor slaughter area by evaluating product and administering corrective procedures.
  • Perform daily safety walks correcting any non-compliance issues and audits product and employee safety throughout shift.
  • Ensure all safety regulations, food safety policies and are understood and enforced, working closely with Quality Assurance.
  • Ensure employees clock properly throughout the day.
  • Rectify attendance issues by coordinating personnel to fill vacant or absent positions and follow any disciplinary procedures with hourly employees.
  • Attend harvest supervisor meetings each morning.
  • Contribute to the ongoing development of WVMs policies and procedures.
  • Manage daily production in kill floor, offal, variety by products, and feet areas.
  • Measure and report daily yields and downtime.
  • Responsible for associates discipline and turnover.
  • Ability to communicate with USDA inspectors.
  • Monitor and implement the department goals.
  • All other duties as assigned by Manager.
