About The Position

Long Prairie Packing LLC, an American Foods Group Company, has opportunities for a Harvest General Foreperson at our Long Prairie, MN plant. As our Harvest General Foreperson, you will oversee production operations (supervisors, leads, and hourly production employees) to provide for day-to-day control of assigned department activities according to prescribed schedules, priorities, operation sequence, and processing specifications. You will be aware of the key performance indicators in harvest and can optimize results. You will be responsible for crewing, scheduling, work quality, productivity, and employee training in assigned areas. You will conduct line meetings, and be responsible for safety and housekeeping and for proper operation of equipment. You will participate in plant management and operational meetings, and in company retention team meetings and drive down turnover on the harvest floor. You will update, maintain, and implement documents, records, or product specifications. You will conduct employment actions in accordance with EEO/AA guidelines (hire, selection, promotion, demotion, transfer, termination, etc.). You will evaluate department work performance and take corrective action. You will work with Human Resources to take disciplinary or termination action in accordance with company standard practices and procedures. You will coordinate material flow through various stages of assigned departments. You will display a strong work ethic and a professional attitude and appearance. You will encourage and foster team building among supervisors and hourly employees. You will follow and enforce safety rules, housekeeping, and proper operation of equipment. Requirements

  • High school diploma or GED.
  • 3-5 years of experience in Harvest.
  • Must be able to work in a variety of work temperatures warm, hot, humid, cold, wet or with slippery surfaces at varied heights in and around moving equipment and parts with the use of personal protective equipment (PPE).
  • Must be able to perform the job duties with or without reasonable accommodations.
  • Must be assertive and be able to multi-task in a fast-paced environment.
  • Demonstrated ability to pass knowledge and skills to supervisors and hourly employees to create a training and succession plan.
  • Strong computer skills; ability to use designated programs including Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook).
  • Good communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to perform consistent, accurate work minimal direction and work successfully as part of a team.
  • Ability to develop and maintain effective relationships with employees.
  • Ability to attend work consistently.

Nice To Haves

  • Associate in Arts/Associate in Science or Bachelor of Arts/Bachelor of Science degree.
  • Prior lead/foreperson experience in Harvest.
