About The Position

Arterra Wines Canada is seeking an enthusiastic Harvest Intern for the 2026 Harvest at Jackson-Triggs Niagara Estate. This position runs from September 1st to November 27th, 2026. The ideal candidate is a self-motivated, punctual, eager, and detail-oriented individual with a strong work ethic and a passion for wine. You will be involved in various aspects of the winemaking process during the busy harvest season, contributing to the production of ultra-premium VQA wines.

Requirements

  • Winemaking and Viticulture Diploma or equivalent.
  • Less than 1 year of experience.
  • ISO 9001:2000, HACCP, GMP, Winemaking, and WHMIS certifications preferred.
  • Previous manufacturing experience preferred.
  • Strong ability to follow written instructions.
  • Ability to work independently.
  • Effective communication skills.
  • Strong people skills and a team player.
  • Ability to multi-task.
  • Goal-oriented.
  • Mechanical aptitude.
  • Must be able and willing to work overtime as required.
  • Shift work is necessary.
  • Must be able to lift and move up to and including 50lbs.
  • Able to work at heights (catwalk).
  • Able to work within noisy work environments.
  • Outdoor work may be required, in all weather conditions.

Responsibilities

  • Receiving a combination of machine-picked and hand-picked fruit.
  • Occasional work on the sorting table.
  • Operating equipment on the crush pad and cellars to press grapes and clarify juice.
  • Racking, transferring, and blending wine/juice.
  • Gaining experience with multiple types of additions for juice, ferments, and possibly finished wines.
  • Daily cap management using a combination of pump overs and pulsair.
  • Cleaning various sized tanks, totes, bins, crushing equipment, barrels, and floors.
  • Barrel maintenance, sulphur, cleaning, rehydrating, filling, and storing of red/white barrels.
  • Receiving/preparing new barrels for production.
  • Operating micro-oxygenation equipment under the guidance of the winemaking team.
  • Floating different white juices primarily for the Charmat sparkling program.
  • Perform other related duties and responsibilities as assigned or required.
