About The Position

This role involves assisting drivers with unmanageable horses during post parades and approaching the starting gate. The Outrider will also be responsible for catching loose horses, communicating with Starter and Judges about safety issues, and liaising with Track Crew regarding track conditions and procedures. A key aspect of the job is to use extreme care and horsemanship to ensure the safety of all horses and horsemen at Dover Downs, working in a high-traffic area. The position also requires providing exceptional customer service, working safely according to established rules and regulations, and communicating effectively with colleagues, supervisors, and guests. Responsibilities

Assist drivers with unmanageable horses during post parades
Assist drivers with unmanageable horses while approaching the starting gate
Catch loose horses
Communicate with Starter and Judges regarding potential safety issues created by unmanageable horses
Communicate with Track Crew regarding track conditions, loose horse procedures, etc.
Use extreme care and horsemanship to provide safety to all horses and horsemen racing at Dover Downs
Work in high-traffic area with respect to horses and horsemen
Provides exceptional customer service
Works safely, following all established safety rules and regulations
Communicates effectively with co-workers, supervisors and guests
Follows all relevant policies and procedures
Perform other duties as assigned.
