About The Position

At Meta Reality Labs we aim to bring together the brightest cross-disciplinary minds in one place to deliver on our mission: build tools that help people feel connected, anytime, anywhere. As an Electrical Engineer on the AR, VR, or New Technology Team, you will design, build, and test prototype electrical systems for future consumer experiences within Facebook’s Family of Products. You will become part of a team exploring new concepts through fast iterative prototyping. You will work cross-functionally with teams that will dynamically change depending on the problem and potentially include mechanical, optical, firmware, software, and research experts. We want people who work well in teams, can take a board definition and implement with electrical schematic and layout, and can transition these designs into a high-volume consumer product. This is a team of Electrical Engineers with experience in high volume consumer products or developing technology leading prototypes to inform Reality Lab’s roadmap. We are designing mixed domain high-speed digital circuit boards, an experienced troubleshooter at the board and system level, and has familiarity with consumer product development processes. In the role you will be working with emerging technologies across the Augmented Reality and Virtual Reality space with the opportunity to learn from the industry leaders and help Meta achieve its goal of helping people feel connected, anytime, anywhere.

Requirements

  • BS in Electrical Engineering or Computer Engineering, or equivalent industry experience
  • 2+ years of professional experience in relevant technical field
  • Proven knowledge of electrical engineering fundamentals
  • Experience with schematic and board design using Cadence OrCAD, Altium or equivalent
  • Experience working with one of these technologies: use of oscilloscopes, high speed digital test equipment, logic analyzers, or function generators
  • Experience working with one of these technologies: digital signal processing, real-time image processing, display engineering, camera modules, mobile SoC and PMIC, or Battery Management System
  • Proven technical communication skills

  • Experience adhering to and implementing responsible, ethical AI practices (e.g., risk assessment, bias mitigation, quality and accuracy reviews)
  • Demonstrated ongoing AI skill development (e.g., prompt/context engineering, agent orchestration) and staying current with emerging AI technologies
  • Experience providing day-to-day technical oversight of JDM partner manufacturing test operations, including reviewing test setups, fixtures, and procedures to ensure they meet product requirements
  • Experience reviewing and analyzing manufacturing test data during prototype and production builds, identifying trends, failures, and areas for yield improvement

  • Experience supporting design verification of electrical subsystems by leading the review of test plans and test results from the external teams, providing technical feedback and guidance
  • Experience developing and maintaining test automation tooling and scripting to support data collection, analysis, and reporting for both manufacturing test and design validation workflows
  • Experience participating in hardware engineering design reviews and provide Design for Test (DFT) and Design for Manufacturing (DFM) input as it relates to product requirements and goals
  • Experience collaborating with cross-functional teams (EE, ME, SW/FW) to drive resolution of issues uncovered during manufacturing and validation testing
  • Experience supporting test infrastructure improvements, including test station setup, instrumentation configuration, and data pipeline development
  • Experience with test equipment and measurement techniques for verifying and validating electrical hardware (oscilloscopes, DMMs, power supplies, signal generators, etc.)
  • Working proficiency in Python for test automation, data analysis, or tooling development
  • Effective communication skills for working across internal teams and external manufacturing partners
  • Demonstrated experience with electrical design validation or system-level verification of consumer electronics hardware
  • Understanding of basic statistical methods for analyzing manufacturing test data (yield analysis, Cpk, GR&R, etc.)
  • Experience working with contract manufacturers, ODMs, or JDMs in a factory environment overseas
  • Familiarity with automated test equipment, test fixture design, and mechanical concepts as they relate to manufacturing test setups
  • Experience integrating AI into technical workflows, including building AI-powered tools, dashboards, and utilizing AI for data analysis to generate actionable insights
  • Experience working in an R&D or prototyping environment where requirements evolve and priorities shift frequently
  • Experience in AR/VR, wearables, or low-power battery-operated device development

Responsibilities

  • Contribute to the development of complex subsystems, own the development of moderately complex subsystems, or own the development of simple systems under the direction of a technical lead
  • Design schematics, evaluate components, direct board layout, conduct design reviews and draft design documentations
  • Manage bring up and debug, support manufacturing and assembly build
  • Collaborate in a team environment and work across engineering disciplines to develop systems and manage trade offs across electronics, mechanics, optics, sensors, haptics, firmware and software
  • Evaluate vendor reference design and transform these into custom solutions which meet product and form factor constraints
  • Work in distributed team environment
  • Contribute to building and sustaining internal Meta community through recruitment and mentorship
  • Travel both domestically and internationally
