About The Position

Apple is seeking an engineering leader to guide electrical engineers across a diverse portfolio of products. The team works at the intersection of product architecture, electrical engineering, and intelligent metrology, partnering with design teams to develop electrical architectures, embedded observability, and scalable measurement solutions. The role influences product designs early through hardware, firmware, and software integration, and develops specialized instrumentation and measurement platforms to understand product behavior from early development through production. The manager will lead a team responsible for system-level design methodologies, custom electrical instrumentation, and scalable solutions supporting product development, characterization, calibration, and manufacturing. They will shape technical direction by identifying opportunities to influence product architecture, establish common platforms, and use AI-driven technologies to accelerate development and improve engineering decisions. The position requires close collaboration with silicon, hardware, firmware, software, and operations teams, as well as communicating complex strategies and influencing decisions across organizational boundaries. Occasional domestic and international travel may be required based on business needs.

Requirements

  • BS in Electrical Engineering or a related field.
  • 3+ years of engineering management experience with strong hands-on hardware systems expertise, or 7+ years of technical leadership experience with demonstrated readiness for people management.
  • Extensive hardware systems development experience, including architecture, schematic design, PCB layout, bring-up, characterization, and deployment.
  • Strong electrical engineering fundamentals spanning analog, power electronics, mixed-signal, and high-speed digital design.
  • Ability to lead complex engineering initiatives and collaborate across multiple technical disciplines.
  • Deep understanding of system architecture, electrical instrumentation, metrology, and product characterization methodologies.
  • Experience developing precision measurement systems, programmable power architectures, embedded telemetry, or hardware observability solutions.
  • Experience influencing hardware or silicon architecture through cross-functional engineering partnerships.
  • Familiarity with AI/ML-enabled engineering workflows, intelligent automation, and data-driven system analysis.
  • Firmware or software development experience using Python, C/C++, or similar languages.
  • Experience developing scalable engineering platforms and reusable hardware architectures across multiple products.
  • Proficiency with schematic capture, rigid/flexible PCB design, and system-level electrical integration.
  • Understanding of measurement uncertainty, statistical analysis, correlation, repeatability, reproducibility, and calibration methodologies.
  • Ability to balance long-term technical strategy with hands-on engineering execution.
  • Excellent interpersonal, communication, and presentation skills, with the ability to influence engineering teams and senior leadership.

Responsibilities

  • Lead, mentor, and grow a team of electrical engineers, fostering technical excellence, innovation, and strong cross-functional partnerships.
  • Drive the architecture and development of electrical observability, instrumentation, and metrology systems across multiple product lines, from early concept through deployment at scale.
  • Partner with silicon, hardware, and firmware teams to influence product architecture by integrating measurement, telemetry, control, and diagnostic capabilities into system designs.
  • Lead development of custom electrical systems, including precision power delivery, measurement instrumentation, and scalable hardware platforms.
  • Champion AI-enabled engineering methodologies, including intelligent data analysis, automated design workflows, and agentic tools to accelerate hardware development and system characterization.
  • Build the team's strategic presence in product architecture discussions and identify opportunities to improve system observability, reliability, and engineering efficiency.
  • Provide technical leadership in complex system-level investigations, driving cross-functional problem-solving and data-informed engineering decisions.
  • Define technical roadmaps and organizational priorities, balancing near-term product deliverables with longer-term technology and platform investments.
  • Collaborate with senior engineering leadership to communicate technical strategies, influence architectural decisions, and drive measurable engineering and business impact.
  • Lead hiring, performance management, mentorship, and career development to build a high-performing engineering organization.
  • Travel domestically and internationally as needed.
