About The Position

At Apple, new ideas have a way of quickly becoming extraordinary products, services, and customer experiences. Sound is an essential and compelling facet of the customer experience. Apple is assembling a world-class team of engineers who obsesses over the delivery of products that enables our customers to experience music with delight and communicate with clarity. The AirPods System HW team consists of outstanding electrical engineers who own and deliver electronic solutions by closely collaborating with multi-functional teams such as industrial design, product design, technologies and manufacturing. The small form factor of these products enables us to innovate in every aspect of product development that includes areas like advanced physical architectures, new RF technologies and highly power-optimized IC development. We are a diverse team of electrical engineers with a passion for audio, music and product development. Seeking hardworking engineers who have passion on hardware, you will be responsible for owning aspects of system HW development from HW design to build in the factory, like PCB/flex design, crafting optimized system validation plans, owning manufacturing test requirements, prototype bringup and testing, data analysis and issue debug. Key parts of the responsibilities will be that work with manufacturing factory's EE team in the factory on tool design, testing, failure analysis, validation and other HW related cross team support. Travel to factories in other cities and countries might be needed. Experienced team members will get to influence future AirPods architectures based on learnings from successfully executing their programs. EE tasks in the factory including HW testing(coverage, debugging and data review), HW validation, failure analysis, and cross-team support for HW issues. Design tasks including development board, main board, flex and misc HW modules. Management and training of manufacturers’ EE team for above tasks.

Requirements

  • Bachelors or Masters degree in Electrical Engineering or equivalent
  • 2+ years relevant industry experience in designing electronics and/or embedded systems, or fresh graduate worked as key contributor on HW projects in university
  • Strong Electrical Engineering fundamentals (analog/digital design, signal/power integrity, etc.)
  • Hands-on experience in prototyping, bring-up, debug and validation
  • Comfortable in a lab environment using oscilloscopes, spectrum analyzers, frequency counters, etc.
  • Experience with high volume products / consumer electronics from proof of concept to mass production
  • Expertise in board and flex designs including schematic and layout with strong abilities to implement to a timeline and deliver high quality designs
  • Knowledge in one or more of the following areas: CPU/SOC, power(DC-DC converters, battery, power management, low power design), inductive power, analog circuits, audio, RF integration and measurement, sensor design and integration, ESD safety
  • Python/scripting experience
  • Design validation including bench analysis for proving performance to factory test for guaranteeing quality
  • Excellent written skills for clear reporting of data analysis and conclusions
