  • Deep expertise in server hardware architecture, including CPUs, storage systems (SAN/NAS), and network interfaces.
  • Demonstrated experience with Red Hat Enterprise Linux (RHEL) and strong practical knowledge of Red Hat virtualization platforms (e.g., KVM, Red Hat Virtualization).
  • Solid understanding of communications or voice/video-over-IP (VoIP) protocols and their specific performance demands on server resources.
  • Excellent problem-solving skills and the ability to articulate technical findings clearly to both technical and non-technical audiences.
  • Ability to work independently with minimal supervision and also to collaborate effectively with diverse, cross‑functional global teams.
  • Demonstrated ability to build positive working relationships
  • Ability to present technical information clearly and effectively to internal and external audiences

Nice To Haves

  • Proficiency in developing automated testing scripts and tools to streamline the evaluation process.

Responsibilities

  • Design, set up, and execute comprehensive test plans for qualifying new enterprise server hardware generations.
  • Evaluate server performance, reliability, and compatibility when running Avaya’s communications software portfolio.
  • Deep-dive analysis of hardware and software interactions, with a specific focus on optimizing Red Hat virtualization (RHEL, KVM, etc.) deployments and legacy customers running ESXi.
  • Document evaluation results, performance benchmarks, and provide detailed technical reports and recommendations to hardware selection teams and product development.
  • Collaborate with Avaya’s software development and product management teams to define hardware requirements for future product releases.
  • Identify, troubleshoot, and resolve complex performance and stability issues related to server hardware, operating systems, and virtualization layers; often in partnership with Avaya product development teams.
  • Following server selection, provide ongoing engineering support for Avaya’s internal software development teams and external integration provider.
  • Maintain BIOS and firmware currency across server hardware to ensure a secure, stable, and software‑compatible environment. This role is critical in protecting system integrity, enabling platform reliability, and supporting modern software and operating system requirements.
  • Develop and document detailed, repeatable manufacturing and deployment procedures for the integrator company, outlining how to build the final product and ship it to Avaya’s customers.
