About The Position

Raytheon Field Engineering is currently seeking a Hardware Maintainer Field Engineer for the SPY-6 Radar Program. This engineer will work with the onsite engineering team to troubleshoot and resolve hardware related issues, including power, cooling, array, and other radar subsystems. This Field Engineer will be located in Newport News, Virginia working on the ship platforms at Newport News Shipbuilding. The role will require extended hours and may require the employee to support off-shift hours. Some travel may be required. Our Air and Missile Defense Radar (AMDR) program is a team of professionals who are developing and fielding the most advanced shipboard radar.

Requirements

  • Typically requires a Bachelor’s in Science, Technology, Engineering, or Mathematics (STEM) and 2 years of prior relevant experience.
  • Active and transferable U.S. government issued security clearance is required prior to start date.
  • U.S. citizenship is required, as only U.S. citizens are eligible for a security clearance.
  • Experience with RF Systems, power systems, troubleshooting, and reading/utilizing hardware schematics.
  • Experience in maintaining and providing engineering assessment and corrective actions on faulted equipment, and installation and testing of engineering modifications/updates.

Nice To Haves

  • Prior experience working onboard ships or at remote test sites.
  • Experience working on naval radar programs.
  • Experience operating and testing naval radars.
  • Experience with troubleshooting and root-cause analysis.
  • Experience supporting multiple disciplines, and flexible travelling to support the radar.

Responsibilities

  • Work on Radar hardware including and not limited to installation, maintenance, repair, modification and replacement of components.
  • Troubleshooting of Radar hardware components during integration with other systems.
  • Support integration and test activities to include setup, coordination, and tracking of subsystem statuses and configurations.
  • Interface with hardware design teams on troubleshooting and retrofit procedures for approved Engineering Change Proposals (ECPs).
  • Adjudicate hardware issues identified during Radar system activation and testing through the Hardware Trouble Report (HTR) database.
  • Maintain calibration of tooling and track deliveries of material and equipment required for Radar hardware repairs and ECPs.
