Hardware Integration Project Manager (Facilities & Equipment) - EV Construction Management

Turner & Townsend•San Francisco, CA
•$140,000 - $160,000

About The Position

Turner & Townsend is seeking an experienced Hardware Integration Project Manager to lead the implementation of emerging technologies from early-stage prototypes through scalable, deployable design standards. The role connects product development, engineering, and real-world deployment, ensuring new products work in physical environments and addressing integration challenges before they become costly issues. This is an upstream product-development role rather than a traditional construction project management role. The project manager will help shape how products are designed, tested, and implemented across physical spaces, working with architecture and engineering teams, vendors, and consultants to validate and implement solutions. Processes are still evolving, so the role requires comfort with incomplete information and contributing to the path forward. The position may include SOX control responsibilities, which must be followed where applicable. On-site presence and requirements may change depending on client needs. This is a full-time role with a stated base salary range of $140,000–$160,000 per year; the range is not total compensation and may vary based on experience and qualifications.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering, industrial engineering, architecture, or equivalent experience with physical system design or implementation.
  • 5–8+ years of experience in mechanical or industrial engineering, architecture with a strong technical/build focus and engineering collaboration, product implementation or hardware deployment, or industrial or systems design tied to physical environments.
  • Experience working with physical products, systems, or infrastructure, rather than only software or digital product implementation.
  • Ability to evaluate how products interact with real-world constraints such as space, power, installation, environment, maintenance, and access.
  • Proven ability to turn concepts or early-stage designs into solutions that can be executed in real-world environments.
  • Strong organizational and management skills, including collaboration across engineering, operations, vendors, facilities, and other disciplines.
  • Strong requirements-gathering and problem-solving skills.
  • Excellent collaboration and communication skills.
  • Experience reviewing and providing QA/QC of design drawings, technical documents, and/or product specifications.
  • Proficiency with Bluebeam Revu and Microsoft 365 and/or Google Workspace products.

Nice To Haves

  • Mechanical engineering background (strongly preferred).
  • Experience with R&D environments, labs, or prototyping workflows, including vetting and validating products against client standards and codes.
  • Background in industrial design or product design validation.
  • Experience with vendor and external partner management.
  • Familiarity with permitting, codes, and compliance considerations.
  • Experience working in ambiguous or early-stage programs.
  • Proficiency with AutoCAD, Revit, Miro, and Asana.

Responsibilities

  • Own the implementation path for new products from prototype through standardization.
  • Work with engineering, product, facilities, security, and operations teams to validate real-world requirements early.
  • Translate prototypes and concepts into solutions that can be installed, maintained, and scaled.
  • Identify integration risks in physical environments—including space constraints, power, network, installation methods, and storage—and drive mitigation plans.
  • Coordinate with external vendors, manufacturers, and consultants to ensure solutions are viable and executable.
  • Build and manage the R&D implementation roadmap, aligning infrastructure and readiness with product development.
  • Communicate status, risks, and key decisions to stakeholders through written updates, working sessions, and reviews.
  • Respond to R&D issues such as design gaps, prototype failures, and installation blockers, and drive resolution across teams.
  • Review drawing sets, submittals, and specifications independently to identify gaps, risks, and implementation issues.
  • Provide project teams with strategic guidance on approaches to achieve client and business objectives.
  • Capture key information and learnings from each project.
  • Identify improvements to internal systems and processes related to R&D and team objectives.
  • Lead product vetting against design standards, permitting, and code requirements.
  • Define and document repeatable standards based on validated solutions.
  • Drive final documentation approval with team leads, ensuring standards, specifications, and design outputs are validated before release.
  • Facilitate working sessions to align cross-functional teams when requirements are unclear or conflicting.
  • Document learnings and help shape emerging design standards and processes.
  • Adhere to applicable SOX control responsibilities.

Benefits

  • Flexible working environment that supports work-life balance.
