About The Position

This is a remote, contract role for a Hardware Expert focusing on interpreting dimensioned engineering schematics and reproducing them as precise 3D solid models. A representative task may require constructing a mechanical component with complex curved geometry, implementing the model through Python, exporting it as a STEP file, and validating it against strict geometric and physical requirements. This is not a general hardware-support or electronics role. Candidates should have strong CAD, spatial-reasoning, geometry, and technical problem-solving abilities.

• Strong Python programming ability.
• Hands-on experience with 3D CAD or computational geometry.
• Ability to interpret dimensioned engineering drawings and schematics.

Responsibilities

• Interpret dimensions and geometric relationships from technical drawings.
• Translate 2D schematics into accurate 3D mechanical models.
• Decompose complex components into appropriate geometric features.
• Model curved profiles, sweeps, lofts, fillets, chamfers, and Boolean operations.
• Use Python to generate or automate CAD geometry.
• Export valid, watertight solid models in formats such as STEP.
• Validate dimensions, topology, volume, surface area, and inertia properties.
• Diagnose subtle differences between expected and generated geometry.
• Produce reproducible solutions that work in clean technical environments.
