This role reports directly to the Director of Product Development and is responsible for the design, development, and support of PAX hardware products. The Engineering Program Manager (EPM) will manage and communicate project definitions, development milestones, schedules, validation processes, and project status. This position will initially manage a high-volume hardware program and will be instrumental in establishing and refining processes and best practices for engineering product development. The EPM will act as a key facilitator to ensure the smooth operation of the hardware team through excellent program management.

Requirements

  • 4 to 8 years of direct experience managing development programs.
  • Experience with Jira, Smartsheet, or other program management software.
  • Experience engaging both internal engineering teams and external suppliers.
  • Excellent organizational, communication, presentation, and data analytics skills.
  • Ability to focus on details and a resourcefulness to drive issues until they are resolved.
  • BS in Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, related discipline, or demonstrated experience.
  • Domestic and International travel is expected - up to 25%.
  • Three days a week on-site at PAX’s office in San Francisco required.
  • Have an interest in cannabis.

Nice To Haves

  • Mandarin fluency is a plus, but not a requirement.
  • Operate with high autonomy, directly owning full program schedules and acting as the central hub between technical and operational teams
  • Track record of taking at least one program from concept to production
  • Direct experience as a hardware engineer (electrical, mechanical, or embedded/firmware) is desired to easily understand a wide variety of technical issues
  • Previous experience with medical devices or other regulated products is desired

Responsibilities

  • Drive process development, improvements, and best practices consistent with a world class hardware product development organization.
  • Own and oversee program schedules and NPI build phase gates, while ensuring high risk areas have mitigation strategies and actions in place.
  • Mediate between hardware and the rest of the PAX organization. Collaborate closely with Engineering, PLM, Operations and Product to execute on HW programs through DVT and ensure a smooth transition to Operations at PVT.
  • Drive strong program management hygiene including project meeting cadence, bug / action item tracking, and engagement with external design and manufacturing partners.
  • Create clear and consistent presentations to executive leadership on project status and schedules.
  • Travel to support manufacturing builds and ensure factory engagement best practices are established.
