About The Position

Collins Aerospace is seeking an experienced Hardware Engineering Manager to support the matrixed‑aligned Hardware Technologies team supporting the Resilient Connectivity Products (RCP) organization at our Global Engineering & Technology Center (GETC) in Puerto Rico. In this role, you will provide technical leadership and managerial oversight for teams developing PCB hardware, RF/digital/analog electronics, mechanical components, and specialized test equipment for next‑generation resilient connectivity solutions. This leader will manage and develop a multidisciplinary workforce that includes Electrical Engineers, Mechanical Engineers, and Test Engineers. You will be responsible for predictable program execution, engineering excellence, staffing, performance management, and cross‑functional coordination across the RCP product portfolio. This position will sit at our Aguadilla, PR location. You must be residing in Puerto Rico at the time of starting employment. Relocation is not offered. This role is categorized as hybrid, with 3 days onsite and 2 days remote following the schedule assigned by the Manager.

Requirements

  • Typically requires a degree in Science, Technology, Engineering or Mathematics (STEM) and 8 years prior relevant experience or an Advanced Degree in a related field and minimum 5 years of experience.
  • Demonstrated professional experience communicating in English (verbal and written).
  • U.S. citizenship is required, as only U.S. citizens are authorized to access information under this program/contract.
  • Ability to obtain and maintain a security clearance as required by program needs

Nice To Haves

  • Degree in Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering or Electronics Engineering
  • Experience leading multidisciplinary teams that include electrical, mechanical, and test engineers through full development lifecycles.
  • 3 + years of experience as a Senior Supervisor or Technical Lead in hardware, electrical, or mechanical engineering.
  • Proven experience in PCB hardware development and at least one of the following: RF design, analog design, digital design, power electronics, or embedded hardware.
  • Experience developing or supporting test equipment and hardware validation systems.
  • Ability to forecast staffing and budgets, manage risks, and deliver program commitments.
  • Experience working within structured engineering processes (Agile, phase‑gate, or hybrid).
  • Proficiency with PCB design and analysis tools (Altium, Cadence, Mentor, etc.).
  • Experience with mechanical design tools, hardware packaging, thermal analysis, or enclosure design.
  • Understanding of requirements flowdown and hardware‑software‑mechanical integration.
  • Demonstrated ability to build, motivate, and retain high‑performing multidisciplinary engineering teams.
  • Background in aerospace, defense, or high‑reliability electronics development

Responsibilities

  • Lead a diverse team of Electrical Engineers, Mechanical Engineers, and test engineers performing design, analysis, integration, verification, and sustainment activities.
  • Oversee development of PCB hardware including schematic capture, layout oversight, component selection, signal and power integrity, and design reviews.
  • Provide technical direction for RF, analog, and digital circuit design activities, hardware bring‑up, troubleshooting, and optimization.
  • Oversee development of mechanical components, enclosures, packaging, thermal solutions, and hardware‑mechanical integration activities.
  • Manage development of test equipment, automated test solutions, and validation strategies supporting verification and manufacturing
  • Drive predictable program performance, resource planning, cost forecasting, and schedule adherence
  • Collaborate with cross‑functional partners including Software Engineering, Program Management, Supply Chain, and Manufacturing within the RCP organization.
  • Ensure alignment with Collins standard work, engineering processes, design practices, and compliance requirements.
  • Recruit, develop, and mentor engineering talent; conduct performance evaluations and support career development for electrical and mechanical engineers.
  • Support engineering bids, proposals, BOEs, and technical planning.
  • Provide clear communication and status reporting to program and engineering leadership.
