About The Position

As a Hardware Summer Engineering Intern at Cyvl, you won’t be stuck on side projects. You'll work directly on our sensor stack that ride on the vehicles mapping roads for cities across the country. You'll collaborate with our engineering and product teams, and learn how hardware actually gets designed, tested, and built in a fast-moving startup.

Requirements

  • Currently pursuing a degree in Robotics, Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or a related field.
  • 3D CAD fluency. Preference is to Solidworks but Onshape, etc is welcomed as well!
  • Ability to develop and execute tests including designing fixtures, writing concise test plans and reports, and writing simple scripts(python, bash) to automate testing.
  • Excitement to learn new technologies and apply them quickly.
  • Strong communication skills and the ability to work in a collaborative environment.
  • Working in person at our Somerville, MA office

Nice To Haves

  • Portfolio is a nice to have! Doesn't have to be perfect but we want to see that you have built things.
  • Designing for outdoor, automotive, or industrial applications(weatherproofing, shock and vibration)
  • An understanding of DFX methods(manufacturability, usability, repairability, etc)

Responsibilities

  • Design and iterate sensor mounts and enclosures in CAD, from first sketch to printed and machined parts you can hold.
  • Ability to develop and execute tests including designing fixtures, writing concise test plans and reports, and writing simple scripts(python, bash) to automate testing.
  • Work closely with engineers who will invest in your growth — regular pairing and direct feedback on your work.
