On our team, you will work will Booz Allen colleagues, other support contractors and U.S. Space Force and Air Force personnel to develop and deploy the next generation of strategic military satellite communications capabilities. You will be an integral part of the program team to assist the government as an Avionics Hardware Engineer ensuring the Application-Specific Integrated Circuit (ASIC) and receiver card are integrated successfully to meet user’s needs. You will provide independent technical assessment of contractor hardware designs across the program lifecycle. Develop, review, and refine government hardware requirements and verification approaches. Represent the government as a technical lead in vendor and Integrated Program Team (IPT) working groups, capturing risks and surfacing them through the program's risk management process. Brief findings and recommendations to senior government leadership. You will provide direct support to the Lead Systems Engineer and manage the integration of requirements into the baseline of the program. Your expertise and innovative thinking will be critical to ensuring capabilities are delivered to meet the threat. This position is located in El Segundo, CA. Requirements

  • 7+ years of experience with hardware engineering
  • Experience reviewing avionics hardware designs at PDR, CDR, and TRR milestones, including schematics, PCB layouts, and parts selection rationale
  • Experience authoring or evaluating hardware requirements specifications, ICDs, and verification matrices traceable to system-level requirements
  • Experience in requirements document development, such as TRD
  • Experience with Risk processes and Risk Management
  • Ability to coordinate across IPTs and component vendors to resolve technical issues without direct authority, interact well in cross-functional team meetings and professional environments, and work collaboratively and independently demonstrating initiative to complete complex tasks
  • Ability to travel up to 10% of the time
  • Secret clearance
  • Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering or Computer Engineering

Nice To Haves

  • 10+ years of experience with avionics hardware engineering supporting DoD programs
  • Experience supporting Air Force, Space Force, or other DoD programs
  • Experience with VHDL/Verilog, embedded C, or board bring-up and debug
  • Experience with Aviation GPS Receiver Cards
  • Experience with ASICS, FPGAs
  • Experience working with new technology programs for embedded systems
  • Experience in obsolescence management, supply chain risk, or trusted microelectronics
  • Knowledge of DO-254 design assurance or equivalent airworthiness and safety-of-flight processes
  • Knowledge of a variety of electronics environments, such as salt fog, EMI/EMC, and shock and vibration qualification
  • Master's degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, or related discipline
