About The Position

Bedrock Robotics, Inc. seeks a Hardware Engineer in San Francisco, California, to design, manufacture, and test autonomous hardware systems for heavy construction machinery, including excavators, bulldozers, and wheel loaders. These systems include ruggedized onboard computers, cameras and other sensors, controllers and machine interfaces, and equipment used to test components before and after installation. Together, they enable construction machinery to perceive its surroundings, determine its position, plan and execute movements, and perform earthmoving work autonomously. This is a hybrid office-based and work-from-home position within the United States. The employee may work remotely from within the country but must be able to work in the San Francisco office at least three days per week. Regional and national travel of up to 15% is required to visit hardware testing sites. The position is expected to pay an annual salary of $236,000.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree or foreign equivalent in Electrical Engineering, Robotics Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or a directly related field.
  • Five years of progressively responsible, post-baccalaureate experience designing, integrating, and validating electrical hardware systems. Experience may be concurrent.
  • Experience with high-performance computer systems, including x86 or ARM.
  • Experience with robotics sensor stacks, including lidar, radar, cameras, or GNSS.
  • Experience with communication protocols and technologies, including CAN, LIN, J1939, FlexRay, or Ethernet.
  • Experience with Python or C++/C/Rust.
  • Experience with standardization tools and organizations, including ISO, SAE, and ANSI.
  • Willingness and ability to travel regionally and nationally up to 15% to visit hardware testing sites.
  • Ability to work in the San Francisco office at least three days per week.

Responsibilities
