We are looking for enthusiastic and innovative Engineers to join our hardware development team in our office in Kanata, ON. Hardware positions involve working in a team to design, implement and validate leading edge optical & digital/analog circuit packs that are used in Ciena’s Transport and Switching products.

Requirements

  • Bachelor of Engineering degree
  • Good communication, interpersonal, and teamwork skills across multiple disciplines in Hardware development, manufacturing, test engineering, and with external suppliers.
  • Experience with Power lab test equipment and measurement techniques.
  • Product development experience in micro electronic power
  • 5+ years working with electrical power systems in an industrial or utility environment, with working knowledge in key areas of System Power and Grounding design, Power Component Circuit pack design, and Product Development cycle experience

Nice To Haves

  • Postgraduate in Electronics or Micro Electronics Power.
  • Professional Engineer (PE) designation or eligibility
  • Knowledge of power and ground design standards for Telecom and Data center customers.
  • Project management experience

Responsibilities

  • Develop power and ground systems for next generation Optical and Ethernet platform equipment.
  • Design high performance circuit pack level power solutions (schematics and layouts) and work with hardware design prime to implement on their circuit packs.
  • Work with hardware and mechanical design, and external supply partners to realize designs.
  • Hold design, verification spec, and performance results reviews with peers as required.
  • Work with suppliers, corporate and manufacturing procurement organizations to deliver components and sub-systems designs into production.
  • Verify system and sub-component design with engineering and production prototypes.
