As the complexity and strategic importance of Controller Hardware, High Voltage Mechatronics, and Vehicle Electronics continue to expand, GM is transforming the way hardware products are launched, industrialized, manufactured, and sustained throughout their lifecycle. The Hardware Engineer - Manufacturing is responsible for the end-to-end industrialization strategy and manufacturing readiness of Controller and Mechatronic Hardware products across GM's global supply base. This position serves as the primary technical interface between Product Engineering, Supplier Quality, Manufacturing, Purchasing, and Cybersecurity to ensure manufacturing processes, automation strategies, digital connectivity, and quality systems are fully established for successful product launches and long-term production. This role is responsible for driving the transition of GM's electronic hardware supply chain toward Industry 4.0 and Industry 5.0 manufacturing practices, utilizing advanced automation, digital traceability, artificial intelligence, predictive quality systems, digital twins, and smart factory technologies. Using the Overall Automation Maturity Index (OAMI) framework, this role will partner with suppliers to establish and execute automation roadmaps that enable a target automation maturity score of 4.5 or greater, ensuring manufacturing operations are resilient, scalable, efficient, and competitive.
