Hardware Engineer Intern
About The Position

Our Wichita branch specializes in the development of both software and hardware storage systems, ensuring safe, secure, and high-speed access to user data. We are seeking a motivated and tech-savvy college student to join the Hardware engineering team as a part-time student intern. The selected candidate will play a crucial role in maintaining our hardware lab, executing tests, and writing automation scripts, which is integral to the hardware team. This position offers a unique opportunity to gain hands-on experience, develop professional skills, being part of an engineering team, and understand the intricacies of product development and deployment in a real-world setting.
Requirements
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with a keen eye for detail.
- Excellent communication and teamwork abilities, with a willingness to learn and contribute to a dynamic work environment.
- Currently enrolled or planning to enroll in a university-level course, with a preference for computer science, computer engineering, electrical engineering, or related field.
- Availability to work part-time for 20+ hours per week, 5 days a week.
Nice To Haves
- Proficiency or familiarity with Linux and Windows operating systems.
- Experience with scripting languages such as Python, Perl, or Bash.
- Familiarity with programming tools like Git, Jenkins, BitBucket, and VSCode.
- Knowledge of monitoring and configuration management tools, such as Ansible.
Responsibilities
- Collaborate with hardware and test engineers to construct and maintain hardware configurations.
- Aide in hardware trouble shooting and root cause analysis for both internal and customer systems and configurations.
- Perform qualification testing on all types of hardware components.
- Assist in validating customer use cases and ensuring the seamless integration of new features.
- Participate in the management of our lab environment, including equipment setup and troubleshooting.
- Contribute to the development and refinement of our automated testing processes.
- Execute manual and automated tests.
- Engage in continuous learning to stay updated with the latest industry practices and technologies.
