Hardware Assembly Technician

Eyebot•Boston, MA
•$27 - $33•Onsite

About The Position

Eyebot is hiring a Hardware Assembly Technician for its Charlestown production floor. The technician takes vision-test kiosks through final assembly, calibration, testing, inspection, and crating for shipment. Work is split between team-based floor tasks and precision bench work. Floor work includes uncrating and re-crating kiosks weighing 300 pounds, standing kiosks upright in pairs, and moving palletized kiosks with a manual pallet jack. Bench work includes wiring, mounting boards, and fitting small hardware at a station where the technician may sit or stand. The technician follows photo-based, step-by-step work instructions and works alongside technicians and engineers. The role reports to the line supervisor, who runs the production floor day to day. No kiosk experience is required; training is provided on the floor using written work instructions. Written expectations are provided on the first day, with weekly check-ins with the line supervisor during the first month. Benefits begin after the 30-day introductory period. The position is full-time W-2, with overtime available once the technician is up to speed if desired. The long-term opportunity may include more responsibility as the team grows.

Requirements

  • Experience assembling or servicing electromechanical equipment, such as ATMs, vending or self-service kiosks, slot machines, medical devices, lab instruments, copiers, appliances, or server racks.
  • Comfort using drills, torque drivers, hex and Torx bits, rivet tools, and small metric fasteners.
  • Ability to follow photo-based, step-by-step work instructions exactly, including torque specifications, and speak up when a step does not match the equipment.
  • Basic computer skills, including plugging in a cable, launching a program, and following on-screen prompts; programming is not required.
  • Ability to lift 50 pounds, help a partner tilt a large kiosk upright, and spend extended periods on one's feet.
  • Dependability, care with repetitive work, willingness to ask questions rather than guess, and ability to adapt when priorities shift.

  • Run calibrations and function tests on finished kiosks using a calibration cart and test software.
  • Take the vision test as a customer would as part of testing every kiosk.
  • Inspect finished assemblies and flag anything that looks wrong to the line supervisor.
  • Keep the workstation and production floor clean and organized.
  • Follow photo-based work instructions, including torque specifications, and report when a step does not match the equipment.
