About The Position

Hang poultry on a moving overhead conveyor line for additional processing. This role involves hanging birds for processing at an established line speed and removing under-grade product from the line. The position requires active participation as a team member, fostering cohesiveness, and supporting team goals and policies. Team members are expected to understand and uphold Simmons Operating Systems principles, including quality and security, and communicate any concerns or improvement ideas. This role also involves performing other duties as necessary to support business objectives.

Requirements

• Be able to efficiently work in a plant environment.
• Lift an average 10-15 lb product, repetitively, above shoulders at a rate of up to 35 birds per minute.
• Strenuous physical effort required.
• Regularly required to stand, reach and move about the facility.
• Constant standing, simple and power grasping of the hands, fine manipulation/feeling with the hands, reaching at, below shoulder level, above shoulder level, repetitive motion of the shoulders, arms and hands, light lifting/carrying, use of vision.
• Will use waterproof footwear, gloves, apron, hearing protection, hair net(s)/beard net(s), facemask and other protective equipment as needed or required.

• Preferred experience working around moving equipment.
• Preference for poultry or food processing organization.

Responsibilities

• Hangs birds for processing at established line speed.
• Remove under-grade product from the line and put it in a designated location.
• Participates as a member of the Team.
• Participates in ongoing development, communication and implementation of team concepts, programs and policies; coordinates work to ensure B.E.S.T practices with all team members.
• Attends appropriate team meetings.
• Accepts responsibility to quickly identify any areas that lack cohesiveness, bringing them to the attention of the team leader and working with the team in a supportive manner to resolve issues and actively look for ways, and reinforces actions needed, to achieve synergy possible within the larger organization.
• Is familiar with Simmons’ established operating systems (e.g. quality, security, office environment, company policies); understands the responsibility to maintain familiarity with the systems and this position’s role in support of these systems - including a consideration of the impact of individual actions on the systems and the responsibility to communicate concerns and improvement ideas.
• Performs other duties as necessary in support of business objectives.
