About The Position

The Handyman performs routine maintenance, repairs, and improvements on commercial real estate properties to ensure safe, functional, and well-maintained facilities. This hands-on role requires versatile skills to address various maintenance needs while supporting the overall facility management team in property care and client satisfaction.

Requirements

  • 1 to 2 years of experience in general maintenance tasks.
  • Proficiency with hand tools, power tools, and basic diagnostic equipment.
  • Physical aptitude to perform manual labor and work in various environmental conditions.
  • Ability to document work orders on a computer.
  • Potential to work extended hours as needed.
  • Dexterity to work at heights (aerial lift), access roofs using fixed ladders, and work in areas with potential noise and temperature changes.
  • Good communication, attention to detail, and adaptability to change.
  • Physical ability to perform manual labor and work in various environmental conditions.
  • Strong problem-solving skills and ability to work independently.
  • Valid driver's license.
  • Candidates must be authorized to work in the United States without sponsorship.
  • Must be able to lift up to 50 pounds, use portable ladders, climb fixed ladders, and access roofs and mechanical areas.

Nice To Haves

  • High school diploma or equivalent with technical/vocational training preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Maintains, repairs, protects, and beautifies distinct interior and exterior areas of the facility.
  • Executes work in painting, minor carpentry, plumbing, flooring, roofing, doors, and windows.
  • Performs maintenance, cleaning, and repair tasks under the direction of a supervisor and/or team leader.
  • Implements interior and exterior wall repair and painting techniques.
  • Moves furniture, equipment, and shelving in the work area.
  • Installs fixtures, corner guards, pictures, curtains, whiteboards, signs, and carpets.
  • Pressure washes exterior surfaces, sidewalks, and adjacent areas of buildings.
  • Utilizes hand tools and portable equipment.
  • Operates elevated equipment such as aerial lifts and scissor lifts as needed for cleaning and maintenance tasks.
  • Installs and repairs interior flooring.
  • Performs simple plumbing tasks.
  • Assists with mechanical staff tasks as needed (e.g., operation of doors, air curtains, air conditioners).
  • Lifts weight up to 50 pounds, uses portable ladders, climbs fixed ladders to access another level of the building, and accesses roofs and mechanical/utility areas of the facility.
  • Documents work orders on computer in required information systems (CMMS) - Maximo or equivalent.
  • Performs other duties and tasks as assigned by the supervisor and/or team leader.
  • Receives ongoing training to perform work safely.
