About The Position

GD Energy Products, formerly Gardner Denver High Pressure Solutions, has a legacy of over 160 years in leading the industry with unmatched products and services. The company is looking for a Handfinisher for the 3rd Shift to work in Tulsa, OK. This role involves setting up and operating various grinding and finishing machines and tools to perform complicated finishes and surfaces to specified tolerances. The Handfinisher will interpret blueprints to grind proper radii diameter, surface finishes, remove burrs and imperfections, and in some locations, establish cuts and bore drill.

Requirements

  • Minimum six (6) months experience in production or a machine operation role in a metal manufacturing environment; some experience with metal grinding is required.
  • Good understanding of basic shop mathematics, ability to read prints, and measuring devices.
  • Good mechanical aptitude.
  • Good knowledge of lay-out of materials, shop practice and safety regulations applicable to hand finishing and general shop operations.

Responsibilities

  • Sets up finishing equipment and machines by selecting, mounting, and aligning various machine attachments and standard tools.
  • Uses a variety of hand-held, and pedestal mounted grinders to machine, grind, polish and deburr internal and external surfaces and edges of machined metal parts.
  • Follows basic blueprints and shop procedures.
  • Follows work instructions, to perform layout on materials, as required.
  • Checks and inspects work to assure conformity of machining to specifications using precision measuring instruments.
  • Uses over-head hoist and pallet jacks as necessary to handle heavy parts.
  • Where applicable, checks alignments, bore size, welds, destroyed threads or damaged holes to determine what further work is needed.
  • Operates fork lift as necessary to position and lift heavy parts or pallets of smaller pieces.
  • Maintains assigned equipment and work area in a clean, safe and orderly condition.
  • May assist in the disassembles of fluid ends, power ends and its components.
  • May cross-train as a pressure technician and supports autofrettage as needed based on workload in both hand finish and autofrettage.
  • Performs all work in accordance with established safety and quality program procedures and directives.
  • Regular attendance and compliance with all Company policies and rules is an essential function for the job.
  • Overtime, including potential for night and/or weekend shifts may be required.
  • Perform all other duties as assigned.
