About The Position

We are seeking a Hand Surgeon for a Locum Tenens position in Lansing, MI. This role involves both inpatient and outpatient services, providing supplemental coverage for clinical duties and call. The coverage period is from ASAP through December 31, 2026. The surgeon will be responsible for 24-hour call 10 days per month, focusing on trauma. Patient demographics include ages 15 and older, with a low volume of follow-up patients and a small number of cases per month, increasing slightly in the summer. The facility has a high annual ER volume. The surgeon will be supported by a trauma team and will handle in-person responses for procedures, consults, and follow-up visits. Clinic responsibilities are on an as-needed basis, and there is no additional support staff beyond the trauma team's assistance with rounding. Travel, lodging, and malpractice insurance are covered.

Requirements

Active MI License or willingness to obtain.
Board Certified in Orthopedic, Plastic, or General Surgery.
BLS & ACLS (highly preferred).
Self-Query NPDB Report (within the month).

Responsibilities

Provide 24-hour call coverage 10 days per month for trauma.
Perform hand-related procedures and traumatic hand reconstruction.
Conduct general plastic surgery procedures including facial laceration repair, scar revisions, skin grafts, and flaps.
Provide minor burn care.
Respond in person when procedures are required.
Handle patient contact including consults, procedures, and scheduled follow-up visits.
Manage clinic responsibilities as needed.
Assist with rounding as needed.
