About The Position

Kentro is hiring for a Remote HAM Implementation Data Engineer to support the VA ESOM contract. This position can be performed remotely within the United States and will support Eastern Time working hours. The pay range for this position is $135-$145K annually. Kentro determines compensation by evaluating current government contracting and commercial market conditions, as well as the role’s specific requirements. Final salary placement within this range will be based on the candidate’s relevant skills, experience, education, certifications, location, and security clearance level, where applicable. Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in computer science, engineering, math, or a related field (8 years of additional relevant experience may be substituted for education).
  • ServiceNow Certified System Administrator (CSA), ServiceNow Certified Implementation Specialist – HAM, Certified Application Developer (CAD), or Performance Analytics certification, or willingness to obtain.
  • 10+ years of experience in data engineering, analytics, or business intelligence, preferably in an IT asset management or enterprise platform context.
  • Experience with ServiceNow Hardware Asset Management (HAM) Pro module, including normalized hardware library, data integrity, and compliance dashboards.
  • Hands-on experience with ServiceNow, including Platform Analytics, Performance Analytics, or reporting toolsets.
  • Demonstrated experience designing data models and building analytics solutions that integrate internal and external data sources.
  • Strong proficiency in data query languages and tools (e.g., SQL, ServiceNow GlideRecord, or equivalent).
  • Experience working with hardware asset management or IT asset management data
  • Advanced Microsoft Excel skills including pivot tables, complex formulas, Power Query and data visualization, with the ability to manipulate and analyze large, complex datasets
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to translate ambiguous requirements into structured analytics solutions.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills, including experience presenting data findings to leadership and cross-functional stakeholders.
  • Experience working in federal or compliance-driven environments strongly preferred.

Nice To Haves

  • Familiarity with predictive analytics or machine learning techniques applied to IT operations or asset management data.
  • Experience integrating external data sources into ServiceNow using Import Sets, Data Sources, or Integration Hub.
  • IAITAM Certified Hardware Asset Management Professional (CHAMP) or equivalent certification.
  • Experience supporting VA or other federal agency IT modernization programs.
  • Familiarity with Agile/Scrum delivery methodologies in a government contracting context.

Responsibilities

  • Design, build, and maintain ServiceNow Platform Analytics reports and dashboards tailored to HAM program needs, including hardware usage, compliance status, and data integrity.
  • Translate stakeholder reporting requirements into functional analytics solutions within the ServiceNow environment.
  • Ensure dashboards and reports are performant, accurate, and accessible to both technical and non-technical users.
  • Establish and document standards for report naming conventions, data refresh cadences, and dashboard governance.
  • Design and implement data models that support hardware asset tracking, compliance monitoring, and ensure data integrity within ServiceNow HAM.
  • Identify, evaluate, and integrate relevant external data sources — such as legacy data, contract data, and procurement records — into the ServiceNow platform to enrich internal analytics.
  • Collaborate with integration engineers and platform administrators to ensure data pipelines are reliable, well-documented, and aligned with VA data governance standards.
  • Maintain data quality standards, including validation rules, reconciliation processes, and exception handling procedures.
  • Develop predictive analytics models and trend analyses to forecast hardware usage patterns, data integrity issues, and compliance risk areas.
  • Build automated alerting and exception reporting to surface high-priority compliance gaps before they escalate.
  • Support hardware optimization analysis, identifying opportunities to reduce costs.
  • Partner with internal and external stakeholders to align analytics outputs with program goals and VA needs.
  • Produce recurring and ad hoc analytics reports for project leadership, VA Product Owners, and cross-functional stakeholders on a defined cadence.
  • Translate complex data findings into clear, concise narratives and visualizations appropriate for both technical and executive audiences.
  • Maintain thorough documentation of data models, report logic, integration mappings, and dashboard configurations to support knowledge transfer and audit readiness.
  • Provide training and guidance to team members and stakeholders on interpreting and using analytics outputs effectively.
