About The Position

Mountain View Seniors' Housing is seeking a qualified Beautician/Hairstylist to provide professional hairdressing services to residents at our Lodge. This is an independent contractor opportunity. The successful contractor will be responsible for supplying their own business registration (where applicable), maintaining all required licences and certifications, and operating in compliance with applicable legislation and professional standards.

Requirements

  • Journeyman Hairstylist Certificate from an accredited institution.
  • Eligible to practice as a hairstylist in the Province of Alberta.
  • A clear and current Criminal Record Check, provided prior to commencing employment.
  • Current municipal business license, where applicable.
  • Demonstrated ability to provide exceptional customer service with professionalism, courtesy, and respect.
  • Strong organizational and time management skills, with the ability to work independently and manage appointments.
  • Knowledge of infection prevention and control practices and safe salon operations.
  • Excellent communication skills and the ability to work effectively with older adults, residents, families, and Lodge staff.
  • Commitment to maintaining confidentiality and providing resident-centred care.

Responsibilities

  • Provide professional hairdressing services to residents and clients in the designated salon.
  • Maintain a consistent schedule of at least one (1) day per week, with service days established in consultation with the Lodge.
  • Schedule and manage client appointments, giving priority to Lodge residents.
  • Coordinate resident portering to and from appointments as required, and communicate with staff when residents are are being removed from secure areas.
  • Deliver services in a professional, respectful, and compassionate manner while maintaining resident confidentiality.
  • Provide invoices or receipts to residents and clients upon request.
  • Clean, sanitize, and maintain all equipment and work areas in accordance with Alberta health and safety and infection prevention standards.
  • Maintain required cleaning and sanitation records and provide documentation upon request.
  • Comply with all applicable federal and provincial legislation, municipal bylaws, and workplace health and safety requirements.
  • Report any observed resident health, safety, or well-being concerns to the Site General Manager or designated staff.
