About The Position

Saulino Smith Salon, located steps from the beach on Ocean Avenue, is seeking a motivated, detail-oriented Hair Assistant who is serious about building a career behind the chair. This role is a launchpad for aspiring stylists, offering hands-on experience in a fast-paced, high-end salon environment. The ideal candidate will work side-by-side with experienced stylists, asking questions, moving fast, and aiming to level up quickly. The salon specializes in customized cuts, dimensional color, and effortlessly modern looks, with a goal of making every client feel confident.

Requirements

• Active California Cosmetology License
• Strong communication and customer service skills
• Ability to multitask and stay calm under pressure
• Passion for hair, beauty, and continuous growth
• Team player with a positive, can-do attitude
• Availability for weekends and flexible hours

Nice To Haves

• 1–2 years in a salon assistant role (preferred, but not a dealbreaker if you’ve got hustle)

Responsibilities

• Assist stylists with blowouts, color applications, treatments, and daily services
• Shampoo, condition, and prep clients for services
• Greet clients and create a welcoming, elevated experience
• Maintain a clean, organized, and fully stocked workstation
• Sanitize tools and uphold salon hygiene standards
• Support front desk operations including scheduling and client flow
• Learn by observing, assisting, and refining technique
