About The Position

This internship involves working in a joint capacity with Pheasants Forever, Inc. (PF) in the Loess Canyons of Nebraska, focusing on the removal of scattered Eastern Red Cedar. Activities may include hand-cutting cedar trees using various hand tools. Interns will collaborate closely with multiple wildlife biologists, assisting them with diverse projects related to wildlife management.

Requirements

  • Ability to work effectively with private landowners, governmental agency staff, and conservation organization representatives.
  • Ability to work independently with little supervision.
  • Ability to work under adverse weather conditions.
  • Must be in physical shape to operate hand tools, power tools, and specialized equipment such as chainsaws, loppers, and brush cutters.
  • Valid driver's license required with an acceptable driving record.
  • Must be able to follow detailed verbal and written instructions.
  • Complete and comprehend all training as directed by supervisor(s).

Nice To Haves

  • Interest in or a degree in wildlife management or a closely related natural resources field.

Responsibilities

  • Hand cutting cedar trees with a variety of hand tools.
  • Assisting wildlife biologists with various projects related to wildlife management.
  • Performing equipment and tool maintenance to ensure readiness and accountability of assigned gear.
  • Completing daily work logs, time reports, and treatment accomplishment records.
  • Collecting research data concerning tree cutting.
  • Abiding by all company policies, rules, and safety regulations.
