About The Position

This position will support the invasive plant control program on National Wildlife Refuge System lands in western Minnesota, primarily within the Big Stone-Morris Complex. The member will conduct direct invasive plant control, including herbicide and mechanical methods. They will also assist with mapping and recording invasive plant locations and the native grassland and wetland habitats that are impacted by those invasives. The member will assist with general data management and reporting.

Requirements

  • Valid driver’s license
  • Must be between the ages of 16 and 30, inclusive, or veterans age 35 or younger
  • Must be a citizen or national of the United States or lawful permanent resident alien of the United States
  • Personal Vehicle Required

Nice To Haves

  • Experience safely mixing and applying herbicide
  • ORUV operation and trailering
  • Understanding of FieldMaps, Survey123, ArcPro
  • Ability to work independently

Responsibilities

  • Control invasive plants with herbicide and mechanical (e.g. brush saw, mower) methods
  • Survey, map and record location and extent of invasive plants
  • Survey, map and record native habitats where invasive plants are located
  • Assist with GIS data management and reporting
  • Maintain and winterize equipment
  • Assist with native seed harvest for restoring areas previously treated (e.g. tree pile scars)
