About The Position

The Habilitation Manager functions as a member of the Interdisciplinary Team, responsible for completing initial/annual Habilitation Assessments, implementing in-services, and monitoring assigned objectives. This role ensures the personal appearance of all consumers meets LIFE, Inc. standards and that the medical needs of each assigned consumer are met, including medication checks, ordering medications, and scheduling/transporting clients to appointments. The manager also monitors facility operations, ensuring cleanliness, equipment maintenance, and safe working conditions, including vehicle maintenance and adequate supply levels. Responsibilities include resolving issues with Direct Support Professionals (DSPs), issuing disciplinary actions, assisting with new employee training, conducting performance appraisals, and providing feedback for improved performance. The role involves formulating and implementing employee corrective actions, ensuring adherence to LIFE, Inc. policies, completing required inspections, developing staff work schedules in compliance with laws and regulations, creating monthly activity calendars, making necessary purchases for household inventory, and monitoring DSP schedules and timesheets. The position requires flexibility in days/evenings and on-call duties every other weekend.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma or equivalent.
  • Meet the requirements of DSP’s.
  • Thorough knowledge of group home operations.
  • Understanding of Developmental Disabilities and Mental Illness.
  • Understanding of employee relations and management operations.
  • Experience in Human Services field.
  • Excellent leadership and human relation abilities.
  • Able to organize, coordinate, and direct daily operations.
  • Strong oral and written communication abilities.
  • Must have the ability to work a flexible work schedule.
  • Possess and maintain NC driver’s license.
  • Able to lift or move up to 40 lbs or more.
  • Able to bend, lift, turn, and respond quickly.
  • May be exposed to blood and bodily fluids at times.
  • Position has on-call requirements.

Responsibilities

  • Complete initial/annual Habilitation Assessments.
  • Implement in-services and monitor assigned objectives.
  • Ensure personal appearance of all consumers is maintained according to LIFE, Inc. standards.
  • Assure the medical needs of each assigned consumer are met through medication checks, order medications as instructed, and schedule/transport clients to appointments as needed or required by ICF regulations.
  • Monitor operations of all facilities to include cleanliness, maintain facility equipment, and ensure safe working conditions.
  • Ensure vehicles are well maintained.
  • Monitor and maintain adequate emergency food and supplies as well as daily needed supplies.
  • Resolve issues with DSP’s, issuing needed disciplinary action to ensure compliance with LIFE, Inc. policies and procedures.
  • Assist with the training of new employees to include general orientation and on-going training as required by LIFE, Inc. policy.
  • Conduct performance appraisals as assigned.
  • Provides measurable feedback to DSP’s, as well as suggestions for improved performance.
  • Formulate and implement employee corrective actions as needed.
  • Ensure implementation of all LIFE, Inc. policies as they pertain to the operation of the facilities and the supervision of the DSP staff.
  • Complete required inspections and observations as outlined by LIFE, Inc. policies.
  • Develop staff work schedule to ensure compliance with wage and hour laws and ICF/IID requirements.
  • Develop monthly activity calendar and monitor as needed.
  • Make necessary purchases to ensure the maintenance of household inventory.
  • Monitor DSP’s schedules and work hours.
  • Approve DSP’s timesheets.
