About The Position

This role exists to bring beauty and joy to our communities through our high-quality plants. The position involves planting, cultivating, and maintaining plants and crops, and harvesting for shipment to customers. General maintenance of facility grounds and equipment is also required.

Requirements

Previous experience working in a nursery, performing both manual labor and using machinery related to crop production and harvesting activities.
0 to 2 months of previous experience.
Demonstration of responsibility in decisions and actions.
Demonstrates a strong work ethic, is flexible with schedules, and willing to be available when needed.
Does what is necessary to complete the job.
Workers may assist in loading and unloading trucks with nursery stock up to 50 pounds (approx. 23 kg) and lifting to a height of 5 feet (approx. 1.5 m).
Workers must be able to stand and stoop for long periods of time.
Work requires repetitive motion and extensive walking.
Workers will need to crouch and bend to harvest crops, cut vines using a knife, and carry crops to containers, carts, wagons, and trucks.
Workers will be exposed to damp weather in the morning and high temperatures during the day.
Workers must be physically capable of performing the required work, with or without reasonable accommodations.

Responsibilities

Responsible for all aspects of plant cultivation, including planting, pruning, transplanting, spacing, watering, and handling hanging baskets.
Prepare, harvest, sort, and store plants according to variety, growing needs, and shipments.
Perform irrigation activities, including installation and moving of irrigation pipes and equipment, as well as manual and automated watering.
Move plants in containers using rolling carts.
Unload carts/containers/trucks/trailers at the designated market and sort product for quality issues and repackage for sale.
Perform field maintenance activities, including weeding, thinning crops, and applying herbicides, pesticides, and fungicides.
Remove trash, rocks, and debris from the planting/harvesting area.
During harvest, select vegetables according to specifications given by the supervisor.
Operate tractors, sprayers, cultivators, seeders, mowers, plows, discs, and other farm equipment.
Construction and covering or uncovering of greenhouses, with or without the use of power tools.
Maintain facility grounds, including weeding, mowing, and snow removal as needed.
Assist in the maintenance and repair of equipment.
Be able to operate equipment with or without supervision, safely, protecting the operator, visitors, coworkers, plants, crops, trees, facilities, and machinery.
