About The Position

Oversees personnel and daily operations of the human resources department. Applies company policy and procedures to consistently support employees and operations to meet company objectives.

Requirements

  • Ability to read, analyze, and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, or government regulations.
  • Ability to write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals.
  • Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, clients, customers, and the general public.
  • Basic math skills.
  • Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists.
  • Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.
  • Basic computer skills.
  • Minimum 3 years related experience and/or training.

Nice To Haves

  • Bachelor's degree from a four-year college or university, preferred.
  • Professional certifications, preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Acknowledges legal requirements and government reporting regulations affecting human resources functions and ensures policies, procedures, and reporting are in compliance.
  • Recruits, interviews, tests, and selects employees to fill vacant positions.
  • Plans and conducts new employee orientation to foster a positive attitude toward company goals.
  • Keeps records of benefits, plans participation, such as insurance and pension plans, personnel transactions such as hires, promotions, transfers, performance reviews, and terminations, and employee statistics for government reporting.
  • Advises management in the appropriate resolution of employee relations issues.
  • Responds to inquiries regarding policies, procedures, and programs.
  • Administers the performance review program to ensure effectiveness, compliance, and equity within the organization.
  • Administers the salary administration program to ensure compliance and equity within the organization.
  • Administers benefits programs such as disability insurances, pension plans, vacation, sick leave, leave of absences, and employee assistance.
  • Prepares employee separation notices and related documentation, and conducts exit interviews to determine reasons behind separations.
  • Prepares reports and recommends procedures to reduce absenteeism and turnover.
  • Represents the organization at personnel-related hearings and investigations.
  • Contracts with outside suppliers to provide employee services, such as canteen, transportation, or relocation services.
  • Ensures compliance with process and procedures and specific directives of the functional department director.
  • Effectively manages HRIS and payroll systems and processes.
  • Reports applicable HR metrics/analytics and takes initiative to improve procedures and processes.
  • Ensures understanding, training, and fairness of performance management (appraisal) processes.
  • Supports and leads organizational development efforts at the site including, but not limited to, employee development, succession planning, career paths, and department or organizational needs.
  • Coordinates management training in interviewing, hiring, terminations, promotions, performance review, safety, and sexual harassment.
  • Partners with GM's, Plant Managers, and other staff members to lead and continuously improve the business.
  • Leads and supports communication and employee engagement activities.
  • Leads and supports community support activities.
  • Performs any other duties assigned.
  • Directly supervises employees in the Human Resource Department.
  • Carries out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the organization's policies and applicable laws.
