Under limited supervision, this role supports the coordination of gymnastics programming and contributes to the Boulder Parks and Recreation Gymnastics Team. The position focuses on the department's plan initiatives to grow youth engagement, inclusion, and diversity, thereby enhancing community wellbeing. The role involves assisting Program Supervisors with implementing the gymnastics program, leading circuit set-up, ensuring safety and progressions in curriculum, and instructing coaches through daily lesson plans. It also includes maintaining coach-to-athlete ratios, supporting instructors for quality lessons, evaluating athletes, and making recommendations for lesson planning and individualized support. The specialist provides information to the Program Supervisor for program service delivery goals, which may involve researching best practices, creating program plans, and evaluating existing programs to meet community recreational needs. A key aspect is demonstrating independent motivation to support and coach in all program areas, maintaining a positive, solution-oriented culture, and fostering good relations with parents, participants, management, and staff. The role ensures all practical safety measures are observed, enforces organizational policies and safety regulations, and provides safe and appropriate instruction for all levels on all apparatus. Training and supporting coaching staff in safe teaching methods is also a responsibility. The position requires ensuring the safety of self, others, materials, and equipment, completing all appropriate documentation, and meeting/maintaining licensing and required certifications. Regular inspections and administrative tasks are also part of the role, as is attending Leadership and Health & Wellness meetings. The specialist supports the organization of lesson plans and event schedules, assists in communication flow between management, participants, and parents, and provides feedback on coaches, curriculum, and customer satisfaction. Utilization of departmental recreation programming software for facility booking, pass validation, and program registration support is expected. The role involves meeting with regular staff to schedule program offerings and supporting supervisors in organizing and submitting recreation guide and website information, including writing program descriptions and developing marketing content. Performing related duties as required to meet the City's needs, promoting teamwork and synergy, and maintaining professional ethics are also essential. Compliance with City and Department policies, participation in professional training, and adherence to attendance and workplace attire policies are required.
