About The Position

The Gymnastics Instructor will teach classes and programs based on the YMCA’s Sport Philosophy, incorporating the YMCA’s mission of developing healthy mind, body, and spirit into programs. The instructor will be responsible for supervising students with control, enthusiasm, and proper safety precautions, while also demonstrating basic gymnastics skills. A key aspect of the role is ensuring participants have a fun and enjoyable time. The instructor will plan and lead classes as scheduled, compile program records, and attend staff meetings.

Requirements

• Must be at least 16 years of age.
• Knowledgeable with the USAG skill progressions
• Gymnastics coaching experience.
• Ability to work with people of all ages.
• Strong verbal and written communications skills.
• Must be mature, enthusiastic and caring.
• Must have current CPR/AED certification within 60 days of employment.

Responsibilities

• Teach classes/programs based on the YMCA’s Sport Philosophy.
• Incorporate the YMCA’s mission of developing healthy mind, body, and spirit into programs.
• Supervise 8-9 students with control, enthusiasm and proper safety precautions.
• Demonstrate basic gymnastics skills (forward roll, backward roll, running and jumping).
• Make sure all participants have a fun, enjoyable time.
• Plan and lead classes/programs as scheduled.
• Compile program records including attendance, questionnaires, evaluations, accident/incident reports, and incentive plans.
• Attend all staff meetings.
