About The Position

The Gymnastics Instructor provides direct leadership, instruction, and motivation to children of all ages, teaching gymnastics skills and progressions. The instructor serves staff, members, guests, volunteers, and program participants in the gymnastics program. This is a part-time position of up to 25 hours per week at the Mel Korum Family YMCA in Puyallup, Washington, with a wage of $18.54 to $22.36 per hour. Compensation is based on relevant experience, skills, and qualifications; most new hires start between the minimum and midpoint of the posted range.

Requirements

• Have a positive attitude and previous experience with children of all ages and diverse populations.
• Have knowledge and skills in program activities and related gymnastics and office equipment setup, and be able to instruct participants in age-appropriate techniques.
• Pass background and reference checks in accordance with the Washington State Fair Chance Act.
• Be committed to valuing and promoting diversity and contributing to an inclusive working and learning environment.
• Be able and willing to complete online Child Abuse Prevention training on the first day, as well as other online and in-person training as required.

Nice To Haves

• Six months or more of experience teaching gymnastics and/or personal gymnastics experience.
• Knowledge and skills to instruct gymnastics.
• CPR, First Aid, and AED certifications.

Responsibilities

• Prepare lesson plans with a natural progression appropriate to each gymnast's age and ability.
• Instruct gymnasts in a safe and fun manner.
• Outline class lesson plans that keep children moving.
• Enforce all safety rules and regulations in the gymnastics gym.
• Finish each class with a fun group activity.
