About The Position

The Greater Philadelphia YMCA is seeking a passionate Gymnastics Instructor to join their team. This role focuses on positively impacting the community by helping children reach their potential, achieve age-appropriate goals, and change lives within the Y community.

Requirements

  • 21+ years of age
  • 3-5 years of experience in a gymnastics setting
  • Some college or equivalent
  • Strong communication skills with a desire to meet everyone at their level of experience
  • Enjoyment from working with children and maintaining positive relationships with their parents

Nice To Haves

  • USAG Safety Certification for Competitions Preferred
  • Strong knowledge of gymnastics competitions including experience at the state and/or national level

Responsibilities

  • Provide a safe, encouraging, and supportive environment for members and participants to learn YMCA programs and specific progressive or competitive programs.
  • Arrive at least 15 minutes before scheduled class, prepared with equipment set up and ready to begin on time.
  • Evaluate program skills, complete progress reports for each session, communicate with parents, complete incident reports, and take attendance.
  • Assist in the instruction of program skills and character development objectives and techniques in accordance with YMCA standards.
  • Provide supervision to program participants and actively participate in all aspects of the program.
  • Wear proper attire in accordance with YMCA standards.
  • Manage participant behavior using a collaborative approach with supervision and parents.
  • Follow approved positive support techniques to develop and refine gymnast’s skills.
  • Attend staff meetings and trainings as required.
