About The Position

We are currently seeking a qualified and enthusiastic coach to join our gymnastics program. The ideal candidate will have 2–5 years of experience coaching or competing in gymnastics and experience with early childhood education. This is a part-time position with approximately 2-10 hours per week, with preferred availability Monday - Friday after 4pm or on Saturdays. The role involves coaching and developing athletes ages 18 months to 12 years, instructing them in the fundamentals, techniques, and safety of gymnastics and tumbling, and fostering a positive and encouraging training environment. Requirements

  • Experience in gymnastics/tumbling and teaching or childcare.
  • Maintain current CPR and Standard First Aid certifications.
  • Completion and follow-through on all accident reports, emergency safety procedures, reporting of hazardous equipment, facilities, or conditions and the conduct of any employees under their supervision.

Nice To Haves

  • 2–5 years of experience coaching or competing in gymnastics
  • Experience with early childhood education
  • Become a NYSCA/ASEP certified coach (if applicable).

Responsibilities

  • Coach and develop athletes ages 18mos - 12 years
  • Instruct participants in the fundamentals, techniques, and safety of gymnastics and tumbling
  • Foster a positive and encouraging training environment
  • Work with the Gymnastics/Tumbling Head Coach in designing each session program.
  • Prepare daily lesson plans.
  • Make decisions regarding the placement of gymnasts in each program level.
  • Work closely with participants to ensure safety.
  • Motivate participants to achieve higher levels in the gymnastics program.
  • Administer First Aid according to the Park District’s Communicable Disease Policy.
  • Understand the Park District’s safety procedures and requirements.
  • Report all incidents and potential hazards to the safety committee as soon as possible.
