Chelsea Piers Field House is seeking to hire Summer Camp Counselors to work between June 15th - September 4th. Chelsea Piers Camps in Manhattan offer engaging and challenging sports summer camp programs for children aged preschool and up in our state-of-the-art athletic facilities. Our Summer Camp Counselors are vital to the success of our camps and are dedicated to providing campers with a clean, safe, friendly, and fun environment to ensure a well-rounded sports education and camp experience. Working as a Summer Camp Counselor is a great way to gain experience and start your career at a world-class, growing sports and fitness company. Counselors must be over the age of 16 and available for at least six weeks of the summer and/or work the full month of August. Counselors are required to attend orientation June 10th - June 12th.
Requirements
- You are over the age of 16 and are punctual, friendly, and motivated.
- You have experience with and love working with children.
- You have basic knowledge of sports/dance.
- Ability to work in a team environment
- Ability to be flexible and rise above stressful situations while remaining positive and energetic
- Ability to meet physical demands of the job (including but not limited to being on your feet for long periods of time, lifting up to 30 lbs, and getting wet)
- Athletic ability and a love of being active
- Neat and well-groomed appearance
Nice To Haves
- Gymnastics or Sports experience preferred
Responsibilities
- Help plan, lead, and implement camp sports activities for children ages 3 to 14
- Maintain a safe, engaging, and fun environment at all times
- Demonstrate enthusiasm and encouragement to our campers
- Escort campers throughout daily activities
- Set up and break down equipment
- Assist campers with lunch, bathroom breaks, and everything camp related
- Maintain a professional attitude at all times
- Be a role model for our campers
- Supervise all camper activities, ensuring the wellbeing of campers throughout the day
- Work with other camp staff to plan and coordinate camp events
- Additional aftercare and bus duty responsibilities can increase compensation
