About The Position

The Guidewire Developer is responsible for working collaboratively with product and platform teams to create and support rich, interactive applications that help end users manage their data and processes. The Guidewire Developer designs, codes, tests, implements, scales and (in some cases) supports application software and systems, usually as part of an Agile Development Team. The Guidewire Developer works closely with Analysts, Product Owners, and Product Managers to understand business requirements and translate these into product or platform features, user stories, and/or components. This role drives the analysis and physical design of technical solutions related to a product or platform and is expected to effectively write innovative programs as well as support upgrades, maintenance or issue resolution for existing applications and systems. The Guidewire Developer uses DevOps and Agile processes to deliver desired functionality quickly and effectively, while iterating to continue development. This role owns all aspects of development, from user experience (UX) planning to deployment. The Guidewire Developer contributes to the development of the team backlog and architectural runway, management of work in process (WIP) levels, and support of engineering aspects of program and solution. The Guidewire Developer may also participate in program increment planning, pre- and- post planning, system, and solution demos, and inspect and adapt events.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in IT Engineering, Computer Science, Business Management, Mathematics, Information Technology, Computer Engineering, or Information Sciences preferred, or equivalent experience
  • Degree preferred, or 4 plus years of relevant software engineering experience
  • Typically, 5–8 years of software engineering experience, with strong hands-on experience developing and supporting Guidewire PolicyCenter.
  • Experience working in Agile delivery environments and supporting enterprise insurance applications.
  • Guidewire Cloud Experience is strongly preferred.
  • Experience with Guidewire Producer Engage/Digital, including integration between Producer Engage and PolicyCenter.
  • Experience on cloud-based portal projects, xEngage project experience
  • Relevant certification is required
  • Strong hands-on Guidewire PolicyCenter development experience.
  • Strong Gosu development and Guidewire configuration experience.
  • PolicyCenter integration experience, including APIs/web services and external systems.
  • Strong understanding of PolicyCenter data model, product model, workflows, and business rules.
  • Experience troubleshooting complex Guidewire application and production issues.
  • Front-end and back-end development fundamentalsAgile/Scrum development experience.
  • CI/CD and automated deployment practices.
  • Strong analytical, communication, collaboration, and problem-solving skills.
  • Work across multiple environments including cloud and on-premises, and multiple operating systems
  • Use modern web development technologies and techniques (e.g., HTML5, CSS, Java Script, etc.)
  • Perform design (e.g., prototype, user interface (UI) design, user experience (UX) design, interaction design)
  • Develop solutions for both mobile and desktop
  • Collaborate with both business and IT stakeholders and develop constructive working relationships with team and non-team members

Responsibilities

  • Serve as a key developer for Guidewire PolicyCenter, delivering configuration, integration, enhancements, and production-ready solutions.
  • Design, develop, test, and maintain PolicyCenter functionality using Gosu and Guidewire configuration/integration patterns.
  • Develop and support integrations between PolicyCenter and Producer Engage/Digital, ensuring seamless end-to-end quoting and policy workflows.
  • Participate in requirements refinement, sprint planning, solution design, code reviews, testing, and release activities.
  • Work closely with Product Owners, BAs, QA, architecture, and integration teams to translate business requirements into scalable technical solutions.
  • Ensure code quality, maintainability, performance, security, and adherence to Guidewire development standards.
  • Contribute to Producer Engage development when needed, including React-based front-end components, Gosu Edge/backend integration, and digital workflows.
  • Support CI/CD, automated deployments, and Guidewire Cloud release processes.
  • Contribute to end-to-end delivery beyond immediate areas of responsibility and provide technical guidance/mentoring to other developers.
