Guidance Navigation Control Engineer III

DPP•Chandler, AZ
•Onsite

About The Position

DPP is seeking a Guidance Navigation Control Engineer III for a 12-month W2 contract with a client in the aerospace and defense manufacturing industry. The role is onsite in Chandler, Arizona, and requires U.S. citizenship and a current, active Secret security clearance. The engineer will model and simulate actuation systems for launch vehicles, target vehicles, and business development programs. Working under the general direction of the Flight Sciences Functional Manager, Functional Lead, and program engineers, the engineer will collaborate with Mechanical, Electrical, and Systems disciplines to achieve program objectives. The work includes designing and analyzing PID control systems; developing and maintaining actuator-system math models in MATLAB and C++; comparing simulation output with test data; investigating discrepancies; and supporting actuator-system evaluations, specifications, testing, trade studies, anomaly investigations, and documentation. The role also includes kinematic analysis and mathematical modeling of three-bar and four-bar systems.

Requirements

  • At least 2–4 years of direct experience modeling actuator systems.
  • Direct experience developing actuator-system performance requirements and specifications.
  • Experience with both electromechanical and electro-hydraulic actuator systems.
  • Current DoD Secret-level security clearance.
  • Experience with MATLAB, C++, Simulink, and Python.
  • Experience modeling both linear and nonlinear systems in Simulink.
  • Experience presenting results to varied audiences, including technical subject-matter experts and non-technical customers.
  • U.S. citizenship.

Nice To Haves

  • 4–6 years of direct experience modeling actuator systems.
  • Participation in an anomaly investigation.
  • Experience conducting new actuation-system trade studies.

Responsibilities

  • Model and simulate actuation systems for launch vehicles, target vehicles, and business development programs.
  • Collaborate with Mechanical, Electrical, Systems, and program engineering disciplines to determine effective ways to meet objectives.
  • Design and analyze single-loop and multi-loop PID control systems, including electromechanical and electro-hydraulic actuation systems.
  • Create and maintain linear and nonlinear actuation-system math models in MATLAB and C++.
  • Compare math-model simulation output with actual test data, determine causes of discrepancies, and update models.
  • Plan and conduct actuator systems engineering work, including evaluation of new systems and adaptation or modification of existing systems.
  • Develop performance requirements for actuation-system specifications.
  • Review actuation-system test data, identify processing issues when necessary, and implement corrections.
  • Provide anomaly investigation support for production and fielded actuation systems.
  • Perform trade studies for new actuation-system applications.
  • Generate and revise documentation summarizing work performed.
  • Conduct kinematic analysis and mathematical modeling of three-bar and four-bar systems.
  • Present results to technical subject-matter experts and non-technical customers.

Benefits

  • DPP offers compensation and benefits packages to employees and their eligible dependents.
