About The Position

The Sewing Labs is seeking guest and volunteer instructors to support our growing lineup of community-based sewing and textile arts classes. This is an ongoing, as-needed (PRN) opportunity for individuals who are passionate about sharing their skills in a creative, inclusive environment. We welcome instructors interested in leading one-time workshops, short-term series, or occasional classes based on their availability and expertise. Areas of Interest Include: Beginner to advanced sewing techniques, Garment construction and alterations, Quilting and fiber arts, Upcycling, mending, and sustainable fashion practices, Machine basics and maintenance, Specialty or creative textile workshops. Instructors are responsible for planning and leading engaging, hands-on classes for adult learners of varying skill levels. This role is ideal for individuals who enjoy teaching, mentoring, and building confidence in others through sewing.

Requirements

  • Strong sewing or textile arts experience
  • Ability to teach in a clear, encouraging, and inclusive manner
  • Reliability and good communication

Nice To Haves

  • Prior teaching experience is helpful but not required
  • Creative ideas for new classes and topics that would benefit our community.
