About The Position
Messmer High School is a 9-12 grade Catholic high school on the north side of Milwaukee, serving over 500 students, 80% of whom attend college. The student body is 85% African American, with over 80% qualifying for free/reduced meals. The school maintains high expectations for all students. The Guest Teacher is required to be in assigned classrooms daily, primarily serving as a substitute teacher. When not needed for substitution, the Guest Teacher will support teachers and/or staff in other areas. This role requires a motivated individual with a desire to positively impact students, help them achieve their fullest potential, and engage professionally with school teams to foster a positive culture and ensure student success.
Requirements
- Bachelor of Arts/Science
Nice To Haves
- State of Wisconsin educator license and/or certification (any area)
- Teacher experience, preferably in an urban city classroom
- Must be mission-driven, demonstrate the highest integrity, and be able to live the values, beliefs, and culture of Messmer Catholic Schools

Responsibilities
- Demonstrate a clear commitment to student development and learning, and collaboration with a growth mindset in his/her professional practice.
- Carry out the lesson plans prepared by the absent teacher
- Follow established teaching protocols and programs to ensure consistency among classes.
- Work cooperatively and interact positively with students and staff.
- Oversee classroom discipline and escalate issues to appropriate personnel, as applicable.
- Participate in and attend all faculty meetings and professional development sessions (as applicable)
- Proactively and effectively communicate with all school personnel, families (as applicable), and colleagues on time
- Participate in the school-wide teacher coaching program; receiving feedback and actively working to continuously improve teaching practice and overall performance
